Welcome to the Utah Valley Family Adventure Race
05/22/13 UPDATE: We have a full race! We just received our 30th registration and the race is full. If there are teams who are still interested in racing, send us an email and we can put you on a waiting list. We'll let you know if we have an opening.
The Utah Valley Family Adventure Race is a family-oriented Sprint Adventure Race with three challenging and fun legs to test you and your family's physical strength and mental acuity. This race is similar to the Adventure Races being held across the country. However, the Utah Valley Family Adventure Race is geared toward families who love the outdoors and adventure.
Teams will consist of at least one adult and up to 4 kids, although other combinations will be considered. There is no age limit for the kids, but the kids will have to be able to ride a bike on gravel roads. Younger kids may have to be transported in bike carriers and backpacks. Older kids (8 to 16) will probably have more fun, but smaller kids are welcome and will have fun as long as parents are not too competitive. The race will require up to 4 hours to complete. Teams will follow race clues while biking, canoeing, and trekking to each checkpoint where they will complete challenging puzzles and fun tasks. Routes, tasks, and challenges will remain secret until race day.
The challenges will consist of physical and mental tasks that will have be completed before moving on. Some challenges have to be completed by the kids and others by the adults. Some of the more difficult tasks will require the whole team to complete.
The Spring 2013 race will be held at 8:00 am on Saturday, June 1, 2013 at the Highland Glen Park Pavilion, in Highland Utah. The race format consists of three legs, which include: biking, canoeing, and running/walking. All participants must bring a bike with a helmet and a sense of adventure. The registration fee for the race is $10 per person and a T-shirt can be purchased for $6, if desired.
